GLP-Pre: The “Fertilizer” Step Most Gut Routines Skip

If you've been following along on the whole natural GLP-1 conversation, here's a truth that trips people up: you can take all the probiotics you want, but if you don't feed the good bacteria, they don't stick around. That's the job GLP-Pre by Triquetra does — and it's the step most people skip.

If you’ve been following along on the whole natural GLP-1 conversation, here’s a truth that trips people up: you can take all the probiotics you want, but if you don’t feed the good bacteria, they don’t stick around. That’s the job GLP-Pre by Triquetra does — and it’s the step most people skip.

Quick refresher. GLP-1 is the hormone your body makes when you eat that helps control appetite, cravings, and blood sugar — the same one the Ozempic-style drugs mimic. It’s produced by cells in your gut called L-cells, and those cells run on fuel made by your gut bacteria: short-chain fatty acids like butyrate. No fuel, weak signal. GLP-Pre is a scoop of the specific fibers that turn into that fuel.

What’s Inside — and Why

GLP-Pre is a neutral-tasting powder you mix into water, coffee, juice, or a smoothie once a day. It’s two complexes working together:

The prebiotic fiber blend — this is the core. It pairs resistant potato starch (Solnul) with xylooligosaccharides, or XOS (PreticX). These are non-digestible fibers, which is the whole point — they pass through your stomach and small intestine intact and reach your colon, where your beneficial bacteria ferment them into those short-chain fatty acids that fuel your GLP-1-making L-cells. XOS in particular is a “prebiotic that punches above its weight” — you need a much smaller dose than something like inulin to feed the right bugs, which is part of why this is gentler on your stomach.

The mushroom beta-glucan complex — a nice bonus layer. Standardized beta-glucans from Lion’s Mane, Cordyceps, and Reishi add another type of fermentable fiber and bring the broader wellness reputation those functional mushrooms are known for. It’s not just plain fiber — it’s fiber with some extra credentials.

Together these specifically feed the bacteria that matter most for this pathway — Akkermansia, Bifidobacterium, and Lactobacillus.

How to Take It

Simple: one scoop a day, mixed into whatever you’re already drinking. The taste is neutral so it disappears in coffee or a smoothie. One tub is about 30 servings.

A quick real-talk tip on any fiber: if your gut isn’t used to prebiotics, start with a partial scoop for the first few days and drink plenty of water. GLP-Pre is on the gentler end, but easing in always beats a rough first week.

The Honest Version

Same straight talk as always. GLP-Pre isn’t a GLP-1 drug and it’s not a replacement for one. It doesn’t contain GLP-1 — it feeds the system that makes yours. That’s a slow, foundational build, not an overnight fix. Feeding a gut ecosystem is like growing a garden: you don’t see the results the next morning, you see them over weeks of consistency. And like everything in this space, it works alongside real food and movement, not instead of them.

Who’s it for? Anyone supporting their gut and metabolism the natural way, people who take a probiotic and want to actually make it work harder, and folks who know they don’t get enough of the right kind of fiber (which, honestly, is most of us).

One more note: GLP-Pre is the prebiotic step of Triquetra’s larger GLP-Complete system. Think of the three parts as a garden — GLP-Pre is the fertilizer that feeds the soil, GLP-Pro plants the right bacteria, and GLP-Activate supports things at mealtime. GLP-Pre works on its own, but it’s genuinely the foundation the other two build on, so if you’re only going to add one gut step, feeding the bacteria you already have is a smart place to start.

As always, I’m a pharmacist, not your pharmacist — check with your own provider before starting something new, especially if you have a digestive condition like IBS, are pregnant, or are managing a health issue, since new fiber doesn’t sit right with everyone.
